About this study
This study is evaluating an investigational treatment applied to scars that formed after sternotomy — the chest incision made during open heart surgery. Researchers want to understand whether the treatment is safe and how it affects the appearance and characteristics of established scars.
The study is run at accredited clinical research facilities in Brisbane and Perth, with all procedures overseen by qualified doctors and research nurses.
Who can take part
You may be eligible if you:
- Are aged 18–70
- Have a raised scar from open heart surgery (sternotomy)
- Your scar is between 3 and 24 months old
- Your scar is at least 16 cm long and 0.6 mm wide
- Are in generally good health
- Can attend scheduled visits at a study clinic in Brisbane or Perth
Full eligibility is confirmed by the clinical team during screening. There are additional criteria our team will walk you through on a short phone call — applying takes a few minutes and doesn’t commit you to anything.
What’s involved
- A phone pre-screen with the Sana One triage team to check basic eligibility
- A screening visit at the clinic, where the study is explained in full and you can ask anything before deciding
- Scheduled clinic visits where the treatment is applied and your scar is assessed
